In the skin of Don Quixote

Opening January 2018 at the Théâtre de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, National Theater.

DECEMBER 1999

For several years now, Michel Alonzo, an ordinary municipal librarian in his fifties, has been in charge of the modernization of the catalogues. For the past few months, he has been focusing on the literature section. He is about to complete his mission: the data entry of all the library’s works into his computer database.

But as the twentieth century draws to a close, Michel is nervous. Everyone is talking about a mysterious force which could completely eradicate his years of work. This evil capable of blowing up nuclear reactors, crashing planes and plunging everyone into darkness, could also attack Michel’s computer. Everyone fears this invisible enemy but no one has ever confronted it: it’s the Millennium Bug.

The Millennium Bug or Y2K Bug is on everyone’s lips, some predicting chaos and hoards of citizens seeking food while others look on in amusement. But if the Millennium Bug can send humanity back into the Middles Ages, could it also transform Michel Alonzo into an errant knight.
