4.7% of freedom

The double Axel

18 % of the population are convinced they have seen a ghost.
43 % of airline pilots admit they sometimes fall asleep during a flight.

Couples fight on average 312 times per year (mostly on Thursdays around 8pm)

These are the kinds of musings that fill the days of Axel and Axelle, an inseparable couple of highly qualified statistical engineers, known as « the double Axel » by their colleagues at the Faculty of Science in Grenoble.

Between teaching class at University and their small house nestled in the mountains, Axel and Axelle lead a rich and fulfilled life. But unfortunately, they are part of the 14%.

14% of couples are unable to have children.

Having tried everything for several years, they ultimately decided to become a foster family. They took a training course and received their certification. When asked to choose an age bracket, they ticked the age 13-17 box.

  • Are you sure? asked Mrs Dermano the Child Welfare social worker.

This is how Blanquette, a young girl of 15, landed on their doorstep one morning.

And so begins a whole other story…
